EATME//DRINKME
“EATME//DRINKME” surveys the act of conforming and performing the female gender, calling attention to an internal battle with self perception and body image. The series exploits the medium of photography, which is grounded in true-to-life representation, by stretching reality through theatrically staged tableaux and digital manipulation of features. Direct quotes from the fantasy novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll are juxtaposed with perturbing self portraiture, drawing parallels between Alice’s monstrous shifts in size to a woman's desire to ingratiate herself with a perceived social standard.
